Lets say the rules are, it had to be NEW and under $300,

I'm taking a chance on one of the Xaviere acoustics that arrives tomorrow. It will have laminated bubinga back and sides and a solid cedar top. I don't expect miracles, but I've heard some pretty nice reviews in the "value for money" category. If I don't like it, I know a music teacher it will get donated to.

What have you seen?

One of my students just picked up an Orangewood guitar for around 2 bills, new. It is all solid wood and plays and sounds fantastic. Call me impressed

I picked up my Yamaha LS6 for £160.00, which is dirt cheap over here in Blighty. I think it's about the least I've ever spent on an acoustic and that's going back 25 years or so.

My Orangewood Morgan Spruce Live is an excellent guitar. I play it daily, even more than my Martins. It's very comfortable and has surprisingly balanced tone. Very reverberant for a 000 body.

1974 Ibanez Concord,
Big dread, just booms, won it in a card game
About 1977, guy called my K high flush and owed me
$75 and gave me that guitar instead.
Still have it, but only bring it to campfires

Any Yammie under $300 is probably the best to be found. Amazing value for little $$$.

A Recording King RD 16 sounded great and played great for less than 200 bucks. And I have a 12 fret 0 size guitar that is really nice and I think I played 350 with a hard case.

I've never found a guitar dirt cheap that I liked. You get what you paid for.

One more. Found a classical guitar abandoned after everyone left for summer break in grad school. Just sounded fantastic. Eventually gave to a friend who promptly cracked it by putting it next to a heater in the middle of a Chicago winter.... (sigh) I guess this is a dirt cheap....or dirt free as possible.
