Clarence White crosspicking a tune called Durham's Bull is one of the finest BG instrumentals I've heard. If you learn how he does it please put me on the list to be taught!

I think I've got the version you mean Dave, from the Clarence White/Flatpick album, with mandolin (presumably Roland?) on it. To my ear he's doing almost no crosspicking on that. He's in A, capo'd 2nd fret, playing out of G position. Most of the A part is G, C and sort of D chord positions w/lots of hammer ons. I originally learned it from someone else and the B part I remember was somewhat different; partly made up by me, no doubt

Anyway w/a slowdowner you could decode it w/out much trouble.
