The LS, while listed at 1 3/4 is just a tiny bit shy of that and is a good compromise. The fit and finish on the LS would be superb if Yamaha could settle on one color of binding. I have three different shades of off white, yet for a guitar that cost under $400 brand new, I think it is an absolute bargain!
Looking at one of these online but GC doesn't have any to hold. I see that it is smaller size, but if anyone has one and knows, how's compare to size and sound of FG800, which I have?

Thanks Jed

You'll find the LS may be a bit quieter than the FG, and will sound generally well balanced with a bright but not harsh tone. Nice harmonic overtones from the Englemann spruce top and rosewood back and sides. Balance between bass, mid and treble is good, and you get a very good, semi-solid, Yamaha case included.
The FG is a great series, but the 'L' is a definite step up.

I just received a reply from Sweetwater to my email asking if the L series is being discontinued. Quoting the reply: "We haven't heard of that happening."

I'm probably not good enough to notice any difference at this point in my playing. I'm probably better off getting the FS800

I called Yamaha and the person I talked to said they have no indication it is discontinued. I guess the SW rep I talked to a few weeks ago was incorrect...

I just joined this club this afternoon - two year old LL6, never played, for CDN$100.00, with case.

Very different sound and feel than my '81 FG-335ii, which I sold (for profit!) last month, as the neck was beginning it's separation.

Honestly I doubt you would feel much difference; I definitely don't-and remember the nut width doesn't reflect the string spacing which will be narrower by about 1/8" at each end of the nut.

My concern was if it was stolen. I've never trusted adverts on musical instruments where you meet "at the mall", or "in the SW part of the city". This was a home-based purchase. Made me feel better about the price. I had to check it out at that price. The case needs a good lint-brush cleaning, as they had dogs. The high E had a little rust on it, but I don't think it was due to humidity. I see no evidence it's been played in a while. Re-strung and part of my small posse!

I had to replace the tuners on my LL16-12; mine is an older one, pre-ARE, but the tuners were bad Ping copies. I replaced them with Grover Mediums with small buttons. They are excellent and dropped right in.

I've had problems with Grover minis of late, but these mediums have been fantastic...very smooth & accurate and that guitar is almost always in tune when I pick it up...really saying something with a 12-string.

Not to hijack but my OCD is kicking in.... These kind of things fascinate me......

I just measured my FG (11/16) and AC240 (3/4) string width only at the first fret. The Ibanez is 40mm and the FG is 38mm...... That's barely noticeable looking at the measuring stick. But I swear it feels like the 3/4 nut Ibanez is at least 1/4 inch fatter. What the..... ?

Well, having already posted about my used and somewhat roughed up (but marvellous) LLx6A, I have just been tempted into a new LL6 ARE in a matte finish - not seen many of those. I got it brand new in a clearance sale from Guitar Guitar here in the UK for £349. First impressions are VERY good!
