Get the Eastman or Blueridge then save your money for a 000-18. You'll deserve it.

Eastman E1OM or E2OM-CD
It’s a traditional 000 with the scale and nut width you seem. I can’t tell you how good my E2OM is. It’s a superb sound guitar and not just for the price.

Another option is the Farida OT-22W. It’s not a 000 but a deep body 00. Comes in natural or sunburst. I love the tone of mine.

Farida OT-22W is a good suggestion.. But will Elderly (the only source) ship them to Wales, where the OP is? I dunno....

Thanks everyone for your replies so far. The Eastman E1 OM and E2 OM CD look like lovely instruments. Out of the two, I think I'm drawn to the dryer sound of the E1 with the spruce top for my application. The sound difference in the clip above reminds me of the sound difference you hear between mahogany and rosewood b/s comparisons - the cedar topped model having a fuller sound like a rosewood backed guitar. I'm actually after the dryer (less overtones) sound that the E1 displays for flatpicking and would probably try 80/20s to see if they would take even more fizz out of the sound.
The Seagull was an interesting suggestion - I have an S6 Spruce at present and love the tone - it is just a shade too loud and large for comfortable seated playing. I can't find a concert hall (OM) size guitar in the Godin range with the short scale and wide nut. The Art and Lutherie Legacy comes close but has a 1.72" nut. I owned a A&L dread for many years and loved its tone but as I have a Seagull perhaps something quite different may be the way to go. I do like the cherry laminate b/s though. And if someone was making a birch laminate b/s 000 size I would like to hear about it. I know that Beard make the Deco-Phonic range in Finnish birch laminate - lovely, lovely guitars but well beyond my price range. I am still researching the other suggestions you have present. Keep the ideas coming. I live in Wales, UK (and no, it's not part of England!!!!)

Yes, Eastman.
The all solid Martin 000-10E (formerly 000RS1) now has 24.9 scale. I'd want to try that as well if I could. |

Richards Guitars in Stratford on Avon sell Eastman Guitars, and have the
Eastman E2OM for sale at £529. They include a pro set up, though all the set ups you've done on Busker guitars you probably don't need that!

Hi Robin, I probably suggested the Recording King to you previously so I'm sorry it didn't work out. I own two, both second hand purchases and they are excellent for the money. I do think however that you can't expect perfect finishing at that price point and you may have to do some setting up or replacing machine heads as I have.
I agree with everyone else that Eastman are very good, but they are a little more expensive. TFOA has a very nice Eastman E10 00 at the moment and they are a great company to deal with although I'm surprised that you can't find anything second hand in the UK. |

How wedded are you to 24.9"?
Dowina are a hand built Slovakian brand with a growing reputation for exceptional value. The Sauvignon and Pomona GA's are all solid, 1.75 nut but long scale. Most reviews show the cutaway, but non cutaway are available. Richards Guitars stock Dowina and could provide more info. He has some YouTube reviews. |

Yamaha FS5. That new red label series punches WAY above its price point.
