Looks nice and sturdy--gotta protect those treasures to and fro!

Threaded inserts?

Exactly. Machine screws to hold the top on. Better than tearing up the box putting wood screws in each time. Guess how I know.

What's going on in the corner of the fingers/x by the bridge plate?

For everyone else, enjoy this picture of a random hole in a perfectly good set of Celebes Ebony sides.

It just occurred to me tonight playing my sweet S.Kinnaird B&W ebony OO with soundport…..you can drop your nose to the port and get a nice smell of the woods!!

Ed, on our parlors we use a pyramid bridge. The leading corners of the bridge have a sharp 90° point to them. Under tension, we have found that this can dimple the finish by the bridge unless we have a little extra reinforcement in that area. I use a thin offcut of the top to fill in that gap between the X and the finger braces where the bridge will push. Thanks for the keen eye and the question.

Jeff that’s definitely what it’s for...unless you frequent honky-tonks and then it’s a spittoon.

Some days work is all about the beautiful quilted maple, and some days it’s about clearing the red maple that (thankfully) missed the house.

Whoa--a little too close!

Hope all is well down there for you and all the AGFers getting slammed by this weather!

Stay safe!

I suppose if you put your shot glass in the sound port it would not work as well.

It is fun to look inside and see the tidy work there, too.

Glad the tree missed ya! Stay safe

What a close call. BTW, any curl in that maple? I mean, since it's down...

I wondered how it might have hit y'all. That storm mostly played out before it got to us but in between us, somewhere around Mansfield, there were tornados. Glad it was only a tree and that it missed the house and especially that it missed those cute little girls!
