oh, allso mattchen, if you're using a daw with busses, send your vocals to one and compress the bus channel.

Then, you've got the unprocessed signal on one fader, and a compressed version on another. Balance to taste. It's a great way to quickly compare, and in effect gives you a mix control between the two.

I'm sure it has been said, but all is very compressor-dependant. One compressor can sound unnatural with the slightest amount of compression, the other can still sound natural when pushing it only a bit.
