Default Rainsong Pickups

I have been gigging a Rainsong Smokey with Baggs Anthem for a year and I love the sound, lots of great bass and presence.

I recently bought this years version which has the unidirectional top and a K&K.

I am finding it is more prone to feedback and the tone is not as good (not as punchy even with a preamp). It also has a harsh mid (reminds me of a wah wah) that I cannot seem to dial out.

It seems to me that the Anthem introduces its own sound to the guitar which is very processed but gets the job done whereas the K&K accurately reflects the acoustic tone.

I am going to have the action adjusted and wait to try it with the ToneDexter. I was just wondering if anyone else had any experience with these Rainsong models and pickups.
