Default Apollo Twin help

Love my Apollo Twin. Ran into a weird problem today.
I was tracking channel 1 (mono), a simple DI bassline.

Somehow, my input is picking up playback of the track I'm playing to.
It's very very dim, in the background, almost like a mic bleed type of sound.

Why in the world is my input picking up a faint version of my output?

it could be crosstalk...but...could you have possibly fed some of the signal from the UA mixer with the recorded signal. Maybe even had the fader pulled way down but just a bit of signal passing through?

or...headphone leak into an open mic that you didn't realize was live??

or...your bass has microphonic pickups and they picked up playback from the monitors (probably the least likely - but it happened to me once during a tracking session in the mid-'90s with strat).

just a couple of things to consider as possible culprits.

Not sure what DAW you're using but the UAD Console 2 app (whether it's open or not) will keep mic's live whether or not you have tracks in record ready on your DAW. Even if you start using your DAW without ever opening Console 2, it will default to it's settings the last time used. If mics are plugged in, they'll be live and could be picking up headphone bleed, particularly if you have open back headphones.

I always have 2 mics plugged into my Apollo Twin and sometimes I forget to mute the inputs in Console 2 so if I'm just working on mixing or editing, I'll hear whatever the mics are picking up.

Hope that helps
