Your Love is Extravagant (Instrumental Cover)
Hey everyone
After some mucking around with my new recording gear, finally put together a YouTube vid. This an instrumental of a song we used to sing in church (back when it was popular some years ago). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3oD-ZkXFvls I'm a recording newbie. This is just the flat recording (no EQ, compression, reverb, nada) from a single omnidirectional small diaphragm condenser. I think maybe the mid range sounds a little honky.. or perhaps it needs a bit more highs (the air/frosting?). Anybody with experience recording acoustics have any feedback on the recording quality? Thanks for listening. Allan The details: Instrument: 2005 Taylor 214 Place: Untreated bedroom, concrete walls Mic: Single Naiant X-Q small diaphragm condenser Placement: About 10 inches away, pointed between the bridge and tail. Recorded: Through a Mackie Onyx Satellite, using the Onyx preamps Video: Canon SD750 (point & shoot) Lighting: Bad... Software: Traction, Audacity and Windows Movie Maker

Well that's just a sweet tune, Xanatos. Nice playing and IMO the recording is just fine. Really enjoyed that. I could definitely listen to it a couple more times....

I thought that was great Allan. Nice choice of songs and very clean, articulate playing. Did you arrange it yourself?

Thanks for the kind words everyone
Haha yes Aaron you just might recognize her Really been enjoying the guitar! Hi gordee - thanks! Yes I did arrange it myself. The key/chord voicings was based on Darrell Evan's version of it. Much of my main intro riff is based on that, and then I added on figuring out how to play the melody based on that riff.

Hi X...
I like your arrangement, and your playing, and I like the song (have Darrell's original CD release of it). |

That was really good I enjoyed that. And notice everyone that it was played on a 214. Not a $5,000 custom guitar. Nothing beats talent and practice.

lol TBman thanks. You might enjoy the fact that the 214 was less than a week old at time of recording. Up until then I've been playing guitars about 25% the value of the 214. Got it used off KYThumbPicker and wanted to try recording with it
