Default Shadows by Gordon Lightfoot (cover)

This is Gordon Lightfoot's 1982 release, "Shadows." It's been covered by at least Tony Rice and Alison Krauss and probably by others.

Thanks for watching!

Great song for your voice Glenn, like you were made for it. The multiple instruments were too cool.

Thank you Bob!

I appreciate your thoughts and comments very much!

Yes, this was a very comfortable song for me to sing, but that always seems to be the case for Gordon Lightfoot songs. He and I have a very similar vocal range.

I tried not to make this cover too complicated, but I needed some extra instruments for the lead guitar work that GL built into his original recording.

Thanks so much for taking time to watch Bob! And I always appreciate hearing from you!

Be well!

- Glenn

Hi Troutmiester!

Thanks for taking time to listen and comment!

I'm glad you like this GL song! I do, too! This one is not particularly easy. It's got some rather unusual chord voicings in it, but once you understand it, it's a great song to play and sing!

I hope all is well for you!

Well, I must say, "The Band Glennwillow" is in great form with this song! Wonderful collection of instrumental sounds built upon some really great vocals on a great tune. Is there anything better? :-)
So enjoyed this one, Glenn!! Also, thanks again for the kind words on my recent tune!
Best,
Fred

Thank you Fred!

I really tried to keep this one simple, though I did add that Mandocaster 12 for a little extra sparkle and on the little solos between the verses I brought in a couple of other guitars. I also recorded a shaker in the background but I never showed it in the video. I even video recorded myself playing the shaker, but I never found a place in the video to show it that made sense to me.

Thanks for your comments Fred!

I did enjoy your last piece a lot!

I hope all is well for you and your wife and family. We are doing great, looking forward to the spring and summer!

Take care,
Glenn

Great fun, Glenn! New song for me, so thanks for picking it. Loved the layered arrangement (and I played a side game trying to count the different brands of stringed instruments while watching).

It had your signature sound and I really enjoyed the mix.

Cheers,

Dave

Great job Glenn. This is another that I like better than the original - you do channel Gordon well! Love the layering and sparkle in the multi-string sections. Everything flowed seamlessly - you radiated confidence and joy as you played, and the joy transferred to us listening.

Well done! 👍

Thank you Carmel Cedar,

I really appreciate your supportive comments! Thanks so much for your insights and encouraging words.

I'm appreciative that you thought the added instrumentation was worthwhile and supportive of the song.

I hope all is well for you!
