Here's the weird one- the volume on the radio in the car and the volume on the TV must always be an odd number. Same with the dryer- when setting the timer, it must be an odd number of minutes.
Ken,

Totally understand but you’ve got it backwards. TV, car radio, thermostats all have to be on even numbers.

I am so OCD about some things that I call it CDO because the order is correct.

Labels in the pantry all face a certain way, everything is organized to the nth degree, naming convention for files on my computer fit a specific pattern, shoes go on a certain way, etc.

But the upside is that out in my shop it makes me a really, really precise woodworker! What I build is to a much higher degree than is really necessary but it really helps when I do work that needs to be precise like working on guitars or building them.

Or multiples of five.

I'm the same with food / product labels, and any cash that I carry is organized with the bills facing the same way, plus in a precise order from when I worked the door at a bar ($1 on the outside, then $20, $10, $5 working towards the inside). Also, my hanging clothes used to be stored by color (I don't have any many of them these days), and my dresser clothes are still that way.

My work files all have very specific naming conventions with the filename, space, dash, space, date (yyyymmdd format), space, my initials, and then v1, v2, v3 (version number). It's so much easier to find the file version you need this way.

Checking work related alarms, messages and notifications.

The context and funny bits are it appears to many as a modern phone, texting or social media obsession but phone and laptop have become primary tools for my job. I've been asked what game or site with those colors and patterns that IT admin tools.

Setting air pressure for tubeless bicycle tires is up there on my list.

I am not OCD enough to know what is my most OCD practice. I think I had the potential to become OCD until I met my future wife. She is the exact opposite of OCD. Let's just say we've had moderating influences on each other.

I used to be late for things UNTIL I hired on the railroad as a switchman in a ladder yard. Where no one can clock on until the entire crew was present. They tell you that can be late once, the second time if your not in an ambulance on your way to the hospital (or similar extreme) you should just go to the main office and quit ...

Thanks everyone. I know I feel better. For me it's more like everything should be in its place except for things that are in process. Which means they are in their place also. But a place could be in a pile or in a box of like and kind items.

At the gas station, I always roll the drivers side window all the way down no matter if cold or raining. It's from fear I will accidentally lock my self out as happened once many years ago.

About 40 years ago I learned (or was told) that in many cultures odd numbers are considered lucky.

I took it to heart and have favored the odd numbers ever since. And I must admit that I've been pretty lucky in my life!

I have glass shower doors and I hate dried water spots on them. I insist on using a squeegee immediately after showering to dispense with them. I don’t expect guests to follow the practice but I alert them to my need to handle it as soon as they’re done and out of the bathroom.
I thought that this was pretty OCD until I discovered that a former coworker insists on using Tilex after every shower use. That made me feel a little less obsessed. :-)
Best,
Jayne

Count to myself every repetitious task like stair climbing or stirring paint.
