Default What is this notation?

What is the forward slash at the start of the measure in this picture?

Slide up to notes so marked.

P.S. You need to link directly to photo, not to an html page the photo is on in order to use the img designation.

Thanks Rick. I wasn't sure if it was a slide because there is an 8th rest before the slide and it doesn't say which notes to slide from. Is there a general rule in this case, like slide from 2 frets lower (10 / 12 in this case)? Also, thanks for fixing the picture.

dannyds,

Rick-slo's information is spot on, as always. I corrected your link in the first post... just click EDIT to view. Here are the directions from the Board FAQs at the bottom of the FAQ page... https://www.acousticguitarforum.com/...b3_attachments.

Two frets from below would be fine in many cases.

Ideally, listen to the original. If you can't find it, just do whatever sounds best or feels easiest and smoothest for the whole phrase.

In this case they're on fret 10 beforehand, so it's unlikely to slide from any more than 2 frets. 1 is probably enough, but it's very quick.

Personally - FWIW - I wouldn't play that phrase as tabbed anyway. I'd slide to 12 with ring and pinky and then play the next two notes (14-14) as 10-9 on the B-E strings, then I'm right in position for the rest.
