Default Springsteen & Mellencamp, Wasted Days

About two weeks ago, my friend sent me a pic of these two having lunch at a place in Bay Head, NJ. He was wondering what they were up to

I like!

I like the sound of the song, but I don't like the sentiment. I'm the same age as Bruce and I don't feel like I'm wasting days at all. I'm busy, productive and very happy with what I'm doing.

No ''wasted days'' here. I'm loving life!

I'm a bit younger and I feel the same way you do. But, OTOH, I never had the "Glory Days" either of those guys had either. They may be comparing today with their peaks, and finding these days lacking. I wouldn't trade places with either of them (or anyone else, honestly), but they each had a heck of a run that old age would have a tough time living up to.

Does anyone else think Bruce is having too much work done? Man, Mellencamp looks like he earned his years, just about as weathered as he should look. Bruce is looking like Courtney Cox on the recent Friends reunion. Like his face doesn't work right - everything's pulled so tight. It's obviously his right to do, but there's something about people trying to look younger than they are that just ends up looking vaguely ridiculous, to me at least...

I don't see it. He's just much thinner and no facial hair and almost shaved head. When they do close ups Bruce's face is actually MORE 'weathered' and wrinkled than John's, but not by much. John just has the hair factor and a higher body fat percent. Seriously, Bruce is rail thin. Always was, except when he got into body building during the Born In The USA days...

Yep..me, too. I’ll take Willie over these Debbie Downers.

You may be right, but my wife, who's got pretty good radar about this stuff, thinks he's had work done. I guess we'll never know! And it doesn't matter - just an observation...

That’s very nice! And remember what Jason Isbell said—don’t assume that every song is about the writer…

Couldn't agree more, and they both look good for their age. Nice song with John's well played in Martin, and Bruce's dark J-45?

Bruce has definitely had work done, though subtle.

I think that Trigger (Willie's guitar) needs to have some work done.

Something subtle.

Right up the road from me. Love them both.

Key West Intermezzo is just a perfectly simple and complete song…

And I love the Mellencamp accordion contribution. His sound.
