I’m surprised that the early returns suggest a preference for 000-12’s. I thought an OM model would be the popular choice. Maybe it will be. I’m pulling for the Greybeard.
As far as division of labor, circumstances dictate that I make the body and Steve makes the neck, bridge, and peghead and fits all that stuff together.
Tony does most of the finishing. At least that’s our plan at the present.

Default Cocobolo + Graybeard = Awesome

I vote Graybeard, to maximize the frequency response capabilities of Cocobolo, and highlight your (newest?) body design.

Thank you all for the kind words, and early interest.
It occurs to me that there might need to be some standardization of spelling. GrAybeard…or GrEybeard?
Shall we spell this like Americans (with an A) or like the English (with an E)? My bro tells me this is named for a mountain in NC…perhaps they (thay?) know?

I'm in the 000-12 camp. Because ALL guitars should be 000-12s. With a sunburst!

HAHA you make a very good point Steve... A quick google search returned this:

graybeard mountain.JPG

However, being the beneficiary (and co-designer of the shape if I may unabashedly and embarrassingly proclaim) of the pioneer guitar made in this form I went back to my emails with John and also my build thread and the day it was given its name, these letters were written on the mould:

greybeard mould.jpg

So I guess I'm down if it needs to be changed. I think John mentioned before Kinnaird is of Scottish descent is that why he spells like non-American? Haha.

Ah, I’m too late…I’d like to see a Graybeard with arm and rib bevels at some point. I’m a not so big guy that likes big guitars, with some ergo-comforts.

Just what I was going to suggest. The greybeard was tempting because of its name, but then I found out its lower bout dimension...too big for this guy and his injured shoulder to get excited about

Nice to know there is a Kinnaird down here in Oz.

Oh Boy
Too (to?, two?) clever bro. Among all my cognitive disabilities spelling reigns supreme. I suppose since it’s named after a mountain then the accepted spelling for the mountain will determine. So it’s Graybeard and I will change the name on the mold.

That graybeard with ergo comforts can accommodate a bad shoulder. Ask Paul for whom I make a bigger model which includes bevels and a Manzer wedge and he claims it feels small and sounds big.

Not too late Mike. My brother jests. I think official voting has yet to start.

000-12.

12-fretters just sound sweeter...

They do sound sweet but there are other bodies that lend themselves nicely to twelve fret necks

John,
I’ve got your back!!! If you’ll be responsible for the body…and you’re pulling for the Greybeard…then I’ll cast my vote for this model too.

Edit: Graybeard

Have some Kinnaird OMs in my collection so my vote goes for the Greybeard. I know it will likely have bevels everywhere so the comfort will be there regardless.
