Further work on the box! Getting the top bracing ready and at the same time the back gains some struts!!!

Is it typical for Steve to use double X bracing on the top?

Hey Chuck,
Yes, it is typical for us to use a double-x on smaller bodied instruments like our Parlor and the 00. Sometimes we will use it on a 14 fret 000 as well. Our general rationale is that we’re trying to maximize the fundamental on a smaller soundboard. We believe (whether that’s the case or not) that our small guitars still kick out a lot of sound, so we’re sticking with it. Hope that answers the question. |

This is a beautiful guitar. The wood and workmanship are stunning. Thanks for your comment about the bracing. I’d love to hear more sometime about what guides your choices in bracing.

Thanks Bob—it takes a studied eye to notice such details. Quartered Basswood can be quite attractive.

This is a lovely guitar. As you know, you are in good hands with Steve and Ryan. Great guys and exceptional builders. The Koa and Spruce (I seemed to have missed what kind of spruce) are beautiful. I have loved the stuff I get from Bruce of Notable Woods. This is going to be a beaut, (it already is.)
Congrats |

And then there’s the back of the headstock, with some beautiful Koa…

Ryan could prove me wrong, but I believe the top is Lutz spruce. It is a lovely set, and you are right about Bruce’s Koa. Steve |
