Default NGD! Taylor content

Those of you who were following and participating my previous thread, thank you very much for the great info and insight. I found a nice 2004 Taylor 214 on Craigslist, and I had to check it out. Gave it a good inspection and it’s in great shape. Started to play it, and I had a hard time containing my excitement. Sounds beautiful, and plays excellent. Super happy!

Of course I have pics!

Congrats!! I have a 2011 GC8 which is a rosewood grand concert. Short scale and easy to play. Taylor makes some really nice guitars. I put it in some super low tunings and make it growl a bit (not really meant for that, but it handles it well) and I think it's made the guitar prettier sounding.

Play it in health!!

I think this year is all solid wood, vs the laminate back/sides (and therefore kinda rare, and they don’t make em like they used to type thing). Having said that I’ve never played this era. My second acoustic was a 214 2008 laminate back that replaced my 25yo Yamaha. Loved that guitar, really an all around killer. Hope you enjoy it!

When I was guitar shopping, that was one of my boxes to check. It had to be all-solid. Some research and I found out that this year until 2007 they were made all-solid (Sitka spruce top I may add) in Cajon CA. After 2007 until today they have laminated B/S, with cutaways and electronics, and are made in Mexico.

Play it in health!!

I’ll tune it half a step low and see how she sounds. So far I’ve noticed it’s very balanced without too much of that brightness Taylor’s are known for. Also it’s a bit louder than the size suggests, but it does lack the bassy punch of a dread. But I really enjoy the balance and note separation. I was playing this thing at 3 am last night lol!
