Memphis Minnie question
I've been learning some of the guitar pieces in the Grossman book, "The Country Blues Guitar" (the brown book). One that's quite fascinating and beautiful is a piece by Memphis Minnie called "Where Is My Good Man?"
My question is, does she play this with the bottom three strings muted with the heel of her hand, as many of these pieces are, or does she play with all three strings open? Grossman doesn't clarify this in his book. It's especially important because sometimes she uses her fingers to play notes in the bottom three strings or to pinch the 4th and 6th strings. I'd greatly appreciate this information, if anybody would have it. |

Unless you want to play an authentic version, why not play what sounds best to you ?

I don't know Stefan's Grossman's arrangement, but I'd say there were two guitars on this original (so it may not be much help!)
