Laminated tops won't "open up" like solid wood, but I see no reason why their tone would deteriorate with time. They will not sound great to start with but will stay that way for life.

Straying back to the original topic, my 15 year old Rainsong sounds as great today as it did when new. Maybe with 50,000 more years of play time, it will open up some.

The carbon used in your Rainsong is just wood that has been opening up for 400 million years. What more do you want?

It is hard to believe that a carbon fiber top that could ever lose it's tone. Hell one can almost stand on the thing. I've a CA GXi (they don't make them anymore). my 2 martins have loosened up over the years. But they stay home now.
