Yes, the halftime show was horrible, and I muted the sound. Nonetheless, you have to marvel at the production. They got that thing set up in 10 minutes, complete with stage, sound system and 1000 adoring fans, and tore it all down in five. Frankly, that's unbelievable.

I have not watched an NFL game this season until yesterday, and I turned the volume off after a minute or so of the halftime show (and went and played guitar), however the NFL ratings, which had declined in recent years, were reported to have "rebounded this past season"

Never heard of the young guy, wasn't into it. I've liked Big Boi forever, since the early Outkast days, but hip hop rarely translates well live to me...

Maroon 5 is just kinda boring music to me anyway, so I really couldn't get too excited about it. But from a production standpoint, it was impressive with what they could pull off. That takes some hard work, both on the scene and behind it.

Sigh...there's never going to be another Prince, is there?

Here is an apt quote from a review by John Caramanica. He was talking about the Maroon 5 portion.

"...a performance that was dynamically flat, mushy at the edges, worthy of something much worse than derision: a shrug."

I lost interest in the SB Halftime show long before the RHCP performed without their guitar and bass plugged into their amps. Although I did enjoy the light-heartedness of Katy Perry's show a few years ago. Viva Left Shark!

The Onion was in typically good form last night:

"Superbowl Half Time Show ruined by perfectly functioning sound system."

I vote Total Loser and get off my lawn. Would have greatly preferred Gladys Knight who did a very nice rendition of the anthem, but I recognize that the NFL is trying to reach a younger demographic. Personally I would rather see something along the lines of the Olympics opening/closing ceremonies, with a unifying theme and a cultural tie-in to the local area. A MLK tribute would have been highly appropriate. Bring in musicians with ties to the local area if you like, but make it about more than the artist who is performing.

I did the same thing. My wife watched the halftime show though. She said it was ok. She likes that 5 bunch anyway.

With all this talk about half-time shows, I'm really excited to see this year's Super Bowl Halftime show! Anyone know what day it is?

I asked Bugs Bunny about it. He said, "Whatta Maroon!!!"

Ive been to two Super Bowls—the aforementioned Price halftime and the McCartney halftime.

If I were running a business I would always pander to my base demographic.
