Despite the name, I have yet to hear a sound coming from ear-rings.

My wife knows what Blue Chips cost because she bought me one for Christmas a while back. It is better that she doesn't know how many I actually have.

Great story. Thanks for sharing.
I live in dread for the day my wife finds out what I spent on the Lowden.

I'm always amused by guys who think that their wives don't know what their guitars or guitar accessories cost. Wives know everything..... us guys are not that smart.

Words of wisdom and yes I do realize that...my wife has at least 2 smart brain cells for each of my one.

We use the same material, same color. I sometimes sand picks in my easy chair while watching TV. This is done in a dark brown chair setting resting on a dark brown carpet. Anyone who wants to visit can come through our shag and probably walk away with $100 worth of picks. Your karma is rising. Get thee to Las Vegas! Scott Memmer |

Brian walked into the kitchen to find is wife, Judy, sitting motionless, staring at the guitar shaped parcel on the kitchen table. “Hey Jude,” he said, for the millionth time. "Never mind hey Jude. What's that?" Judy asked., pointing to the parcel... "What?" Brian replied, trying to buy himself enough time to think of something, anything, to get him out of his latest predicament. "You know what I'm talking about—that!" "Erm, I'm not sure,” said Brian, still stalling. “Why aren't you at work?", he asked, agitated that his wife had intercepted the postman, which had certainly not been part of his plan. "Open the parcel, Brian." Brian froze, and with the slow realisation that he was well and truly ‘caught’, peeled the wrapping to reveal the dream guitar he’d ordered from America. "Pass me the invoice." Brian panicked - he was in trouble now, one last escape attempt… “What? Why do you need that?” “Pass me the invoice Brian...” Brian paused, chewed his lip, and handed over the invoice. Judy’s eyes widened as she read the contents, "Oh. My. God! One thousand seven hundred pounds for a guitar, and one hundred for postage from America! And, wait, a two-hundred-pound customs charge!! You spent nearly two thousand pounds on a guitar and I've been scraping by desperately trying to keep us afloat, you selfish swine!" “Hang on a minute, love...I bought this with my money - money I raised selling other musical equipment! Can I have no pleasure in life? It's not like I do anything else is it?” "What are you banging on about now? You've got seven guitars and god knows what else you hardly use upstairs; our bedroom's like a music shop! Why on Earth do you need another one?" "Because, you know, this is the one — that’s gonna do it for me; and besides— I work hard and I know it’s a lot of money, but I still believe I can do this!" "Do what, Brian?" "You know, the music thing; I know it’s not too late for me to make it..." There was a long, awkward silence, which was broken by Judy, "I can't do this anymore. I'm moving in with my mum." Brian sighed and bowed his head, one eye on the guitar, the other on Judy, as she slowly edged towards the door… "And I'll tell you something else, Brian: it’s about time you stopped wearing those ridiculous leather trousers. You're sixty-four!"

I do "put things down" usually on a coffee table or work top somewhere but as I keep my picks in a special tin box for all of my guitars, nothing gets put away without the "full inventory".
"where's my Blue Chip? is not an uncommon call in my house but never have they been given up for lost. My long suffering wifey admitted that she tried to count my guitars last week. I told her that she needn't bother to count because there is an niventory with all details in my office in the "blue" folder. It also lists picks, capos, Princess Margaret tins (quite valuable) and other stuff. I guess it's a bit "OCD" but i used to be a project manager and they need to know everything about everything. oh BTW - Blue chip pick count ? Ten.
