Reminds me of the virtuoso percussionist Evelyn Glennie who has been profoundly deaf from the age of 12. Her hearing was already severely compromised at the age of 8, and yet she went on to forge an incredible career.
She frequently plays barefoot in order to better 'hear' music.
She claims to be able to hear with different parts of her body. Amazing woman.
