Thanks, Tim.
It's already strung up and I've been playing it a LOT. I haven't been playing a lot of guitar and my wife asked me "how much longer are you planning on playing guitar?" She has turned a blind eye to this project and doesn't seem to understand the significance of my sudden increased interest.

Here's a quick and dirty recording of an evaluation of the guitar's clarity, sustain and intonation. Sorry for the high gain hiss and MP3 compression. I recorded it with a Zoom H2 in a pretty open and lively room:

The McJammers will enjoy hearing this guitar this summer. Sticking with the initial job is the hardest part of doing any home project.
Ya did good, Neil.

She's been waiting for me to complete quite a few items on my honey do list for nearly as long - along with a few things that I completely dropped the ball on. I can't hold a grudge that she has no enthusiasm for my personal diversions. FWIW I'm a lousy cook too.

Last night was the first official string change, and I upgraded to medium gauge D'Addorio phosphor bronze from the previous light gauge version. I had had to tweak the truss rod before to try and remedy some buzzes on the first fret but the increased tension of the heavier strings both solved that problem and woke the guitar up. Still, I miss the flexibility of the lighter unwound strings so the next set is likely to be a bluegrass set.
..and yes, I'm watching the guitar for any signs of strain from the increased tension - particularly the glue joint on the rear side of the bridge, any signs of bellying/sinking of the top, any widening of the joint at the heel and the "feel" of the action. BTW, I used to GAS for a HD-35 because of the thunderous bass - but no more. This thing has it plus the sweetness of cedar and the clarity of mahogany. Now let's hope it doesn't implode because its body weight is also VERY light, though the laminated neck is relatively heavy. Still and all, you'll have to take my word for it because I have no way of uploading from my Zoom H2 since my son broke both USB ports on my laptop. Santa is not likely to solve that problem.
