To answer the original question: I find ALOT of those green, orange and yellow Tortex picks on the floor or around stage areas at my gigs that other musicians have dropped. I can't stand them but a lot of people seem to like them. Fender Mediums obviously are a go-to for countless players as well.
I personally have used the grippy Jim Dunlop picks for 8 years now and probably wouldn't use anything else for basic strumming in a live setting. 4 picks on my pick holder at all times are the Dunlop .88 Grey with grip, Dunlop 1mm Black, my trusty Bluechip TP 45 for soloing and general flat picking, and a Large Dunlop Thumbpick.

and mine since 1965. This hasn't prevented me from owning a ridiculous collection of picks though!

I've been using Fender heavy picks or equivalent for about 40 years. I can use a medium pick, but I don't really care for them. Anything lighter is right out.
I use Wegen picks for mandolin. |

Fender flat picks. I like the heavy gauge picks. i used to use mediums but the heavier picks give a fatter tone that I like.
For thumbpicks I seem to keep going back to the Herco thumbpick/flatpicks. Heavy gauge as well. |

I can't get away from Dunlop .60 Tortex. No matter how often I stray I keep coming back. They just seem to fit what I do. Recently tried a bunch of Ultex of different thickness, but now they're just sitting in a pick bowl looking pretty.
On electrics, after going through the same process over many years, I just stick with the Fender medium celluloids. |

I think that question is a lot like asking, "What is the most common auto tire used in North America?"
While the question is good for starting a discussion, you will be hare pressed to find a solid answer, particularly with this small of a sample to question.

32 years with the Dulop Delrin purple 2mm for electric.
I will probably stay with with Dunlop Delrin lavender 1.5mm for acoustic.

I tried lots of different picks - brands & thincknesses, for a couple decades. Drilled holes in them for grip, etc. For the past 15 or 20 years I've been using Dunlop standard nylon. I use .73mm for acoustic and .88mm for electric. They are textured for grip, even when it's hot and humid. They also seem very durable. I advise my students to try lots of different picks and go with what they like.
