Leonardo Buendia OM - Brazilian Rosewood & German Spruce
Leo Buendia, one of Ervin Somogyi’s current apprentices and an amazing up and coming builder, is wrapping up his 3 year apprenticeship with Ervin and will be moving to his own shop on October 1st in Oakland CA. At the same time, Leo is building for us an amazing OM featuring beautiful straight grain Brazilian Rosewood and a German Spruce Top which is currently available for purchase here at Dream Guitars.
Click here to watch me interview Leo Buendia at this year’s Memphis Acoustic Guitar Festival. Following are the full specs and some images of this build's current progress. I will update this thread with more pictures as they come available.

Awesome.. Braz set. I once considered to have that Braz set, yet finally decided to upgrade to "Cordoba" braz set. Now I'm kinda thinking I made mistake, lol. This characteristic quartersawn Braz rosewood set tugged at my heartstrings

That's what caught my eye, as well. The headstock, as Larry pointed out, is also beautiful.

Following are the final build pics of Leo's OMC which is now available here at the shop - what an amazing instrument. The bass rolls with an enormous force, as though the guitar creates a barometric response you can feel in your bones, like thunder signaling the coming rain. I am touched by Leo's aesthetic, from the headstock to the relief carved into the Brazilian Rosewood bridge above the saddle; you can absolutely feel how passionately each stroke of the chisel fell.
A video of Al Petteway playing the instrument can be viewed here as well: https://youtu.be/taHUGP_rirI

This one is a stunner. I actually got to play it at Leo's before it went out to Paul, and it's a beauty. I dissected its tone and what I heard with Leo, and afterward, he said that was interesting because that's exactly the sort of the sound he was trying to build: very balanced, focused and yet still had nice overtones, quick attack without overly long sustain, slight emphasis on 2nd and 3rd string for fingerstyle. It's a great one for sure!
