Default Comparison of Dazzo with Neumann KM184

Hi there, everybody!

I just wanted to share with you guys a comparison I made of my Dazzo #60 equiped Martin HD28 with a Neumann KM184.

The idea was to show how it sounded without any kind of plugin, but I forgot a buss compressor on. It was set to a moderate compression, but it was turned on (saw it after finished the video... shame on me).

I speak portuguese, but I made english subtitles, to help you guys from the forum to understand what I'm saying.

It was plugged straight into a SSL 2 audio interface. That means it is not the best place to compare a Dazzo pickup, as people say it shines trough a good PA system. Anyway... I hope it can sho a little more how good that pickup sounds. The idea is, in the future, to use a Felix or a MS-2 to blend the Dazzo signal with a mic.

Tell me what do you guys think of it!

And ah... if you like it, feel free to subscribe to my channel! I post music covers and stuff.

Here's the link to it:

Edit: I tried to put the direct video here, but I'm dumb. Hahhahahaha

One thing for sure: The Dazzo sounds great in your guitar !
I have Dazzos in three guitars, and Weissenborn, banjo, mandolin, and I'm not sure if my pure pickup recordings will sound as good as yours.
Congrats !

Thank you very much, my friend! I noticed that the Buss compression made the sound of the pickup too compressed. It is even better without it. I will make other videos in the right way, and I'll post it here.

I had luck on that Dazzo, because I installed it myself. And the funny story is that I have installed it upside down first. Hahahahhaha! Then Teddy told me how to do it properly, and I corrected it. I'm looking forward to get myself a nice preamp to pair with the Dazzo!

Bom dia Rodrigo,

that is impressive. With a little eq additional to a small reverb room the Dazzo may sound even closer to the mic. But you may want the more direct sound in a life situation.
Really well done, Rodrigo, obrigado!

Great video, I enjoyed your playing and the sound you are getting. Just an idea but if you can plug into an amplifier and mic that up then run that to the interface you will get a true live sound comparison. Although I understand that can be difficult to do correctly. Regardless I think you are getting a very good tone. Thanks for sharing

Thanks, Rodrigo, for a well-done video! The Dazzo sounds very good in comparison to the Neumann KM184. Nice "Little Wing" too!

Hey, Peter! Thank you very much for the kind words. I am really looking forward to use a great preamp to feed with the Dazzo signal. It will be the MS-2 or the Felix, but I need to save a lot of money before I do that. Then, I might blend the signal of the Dazzo with an internal (MS-2) or external (Felix) mic. I guess then I'll have the most natural usable tone possible for me, with what I do (wedding cerimones). And, if I need to use only the Dazzo, I'll have a good preamp to tweak a little with the Eq and make it even more natural.

Thank you for the idea, Dave! I sure can do that, but I'll try to make it in a better place, since my home is really small for setting a PA.

Hi Rodrigo.
Great video. I've always told
my wife I love the Portuguese language. Just beautiful to listen to
Even though I cant understand a word.
I thought the km184 sounded great.
The Dazzo seemed to have more
Bass response and was hotter than the mic.
But it really sounded good as well.
Great playing love the Hendrix song.
Thanks for posting. Km184 is a mic
I've always wanted.but never seemed
To have the funds to get one.
But it's on my shortlist.
Great playing.

To my Austrian ears it sounds like Spanish with a huge Russian accent.
But I love the language too. The past 22 years I went to Madeira island at least twice a year (well, not this year) with my son for holidays or to visit my parents who live there for a part of the year.
Doesn’t that make me a quarter-brasilian-austrian-guitar-man?
