HELP! Gig tonight / Fret Buzz Quick Fix
Alright, you guys are my lifeline! I need help, stat!
I just got my guitar back from the shop after a setup, and it's buzzing pretty bad. My dad picked it up for me, and didn't notice. I can't believe the tech would send the guitar out the door like this. I'm never taking it there again. Anyway, I have a gig tonight and don't have time to take it back to the shop for them to fix THEIR mistake. I have other guitars I could play, but this one is my preferred guitar to play live (Yamaha AC3M). Can I make a simple truss rod adjustment to fix this issue? Even if just to get through my gig tonight and Sunday afternoon? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!!!

Check the relief at the 6th fret while fretting the strings at the 1st and 14th simultaneously. You should have just a very little clearance above the 6th fret. If there is no clearance then loosen the truss rod about an eighth of a turn. Shouldn't need any more than an eighth to a quarter turn. This will add some relief, and as a consequence also raises the strings a little in the middle of the neck. Hope this helps!
Btw, this isn't meant to fix a string action issues but it may get you through your gig till you can get it looked at.

Yes. Simply turn your truss rod 1/4 turn counterclockwise and that should take care of it.

Thanks everyone! I was able to get it a little better, but I think it's ultimately a saddle issue (lower strings are the issue). I'll be taking it to a place that I know will do a better job on Monday!
Happy gigging!

Purely a temporary solution. You can also slacken off a string giving you trouble and slide a small piece of paper in the nut slot to raise the string height slightly - you might need to fold the paper a few times before you find a thickness that works.
