Default How to play this chord?

Hello! I'm trying to find a proper way to place my fingers on the fretboard to play this but can't... I'll appreciate suggestions!

Bb on 4th string 8th fret , E 1st string open F 3rd string 10th fret. Horrid chord though so I wouldn't bother, play something else.

HI,

Welcome to the AGF!

This is one way to do it. I'm sorry I don't know how to cut and paste notation, so I'll just explain.

First Chord:
Bb - Index finger - 6 string - 6 fret
Bb - pinky - 4 string - 8 fret
F - Middle finger - 2 string - 6 fret
E - 1st string open

Second Chord:
F - Middle finger - 5 string - 8 fret
Bb - Ring finger - 4 string - 8 fret
E - pinky - 3 string - 9 fret
F - index finger - 2 string - 6 fret

Of course, I don't know how that voicing will sound in the context of the piece you are playing.

Let me know how it works!

Any chance the E should be an Eflat? That would make it a Bb sus 4 chord.

If not, I'm with Andy!

I'd do that first chord 6x896x, barring the 6th fret with the index, 3rd finger on the 4th string and pinky on the 3rd string. Has the advantage of keeping the top two notes in that exact inversion.

The second chord is trickier. If you didn't mind the bottom F being an octave up, you could just take the first chord as I have it and place your 2nd finger on the 8th fret, 5th string, and play the 5th string instead of the 6th. Easy transition. To actually get that lower F down on the 6th string 1st fret, you get quite a stretch: 1xx351, again barring the first fret. If your hands are big enough, it's a very similar shape to the first chord and you might be able to just move the your hand down 5 frets and make a smooth transition.

Thanks so much for the overwhelmingly kind response; I'm sticking with this forum for sure!

The chords are part of a Piazzolla piece, hence the weirdness. I'll try all the suggestions and will report soon

Cheers!

If you can cope with that stretch, then you can play both with a barre on fret 1 and alternating the bass: x1x351, 1xx351. As mentioned above, it's quite a stretch though

assuming standard tuning barre first fret and then

--1---------1---------
--5---------5-------------
--3---------3-------------
-----------------------
--1-----------------------
------------1--------

Not a difficult chording

Alright, so the middle-fretboard versions are easier on the hand but the one with 1st fret barre goes better with the chords that come before and after, although it's quite stretchy for me. I guess I need to do some stretching workouts.

Thanks a lot, everyone!

I agree with the 1-1-x-3-5-1 shape - both chords (it's actually the same chord, just 5th in the bass second time).

It's a stretch, obviously, but I can get it - even on my classical guitar. But I'm also suspicious the E might be an Eb.

And if this is a concert transcription, maybe there was a capo on fret 1? Then it would be dead easy: 0-0-x-2-4-0.

What's it from? Can we hear the original?
