Mackenzie & Marr parlor
I'm having a weak moment. Like many of you, I really don't need yet another guitar, but..... I really like parlor size instruments and the MacKenzie and Marr model is striking my fancy - at least it is today. Just under 700 bucks but with a discount if you prepay now. Before I pull the trigger, I'm inquiring of my cohorts here on the forum: What's been your experience with M&M guitars, and in particular this model?

About the only thing i can tell you is they are made in China. For the same price I bought a Simon and Patrick parlor, all solid wood and sounds fabulous. Had to put in an extra hundred for the case but quite pleased with it. The M+M looks fabulous too. Never played one though.

Having is not always as good as wanting, to quote Mr. Spock, more or less in an old Star Trek episode.
I thought I really wanted an metal resonator. Bought one, and it sat, finally traded it in. I thought I really wanted a 00 size 12 fret. Its nice (Alvarez ap66sb) but I'm really a big tone guitar guy, so it sits. It looks like a mini J-45 so ... it stays for now. Thinner tone, but at least it isn't boxy sounding.

Here's a bit of background on the guitar. In 2011 I played a new parlor from a company that makes astoundingly good and astoundingly expensive guitars. It blew me away. The projection and sustain were wonderful. The designer shared some of the secrets they used to get that kind of voice from such a small guitar. Subsequently I played a whack of small less expensive guitars from other brands but found every one lacking. They simply sounded "small". It became an obsession to create a small inexpensive guitar that sounded as full as possible. It took three years, multiple samples and a really dedicated group of artisans to pull it off but when we unveiled Opeongo, our OO solid wood acoustic, it was an instant hit and is almost always sold out. I defy anyone to find another small body guitar at even twice the price that plays as easily and sounds as sweet.
