Default Edwinson Eclipse OM-S, MG Cocobolo/Sinker-Multiscale

Here's the third guitar I brought to the B'sox B.I.G. celebration last weekend (March 30-31). This is the sort of guitar I like to make when I'm left entirely to my own devices. Dark, vividly figured Cocobolo back and sides, a Mastergrade Sinker Redwood top, lots of Macassar Ebony appointments and trim, multiscale architecture, arm and rib bevels, an Omega open headstock, scoop cutaway, pretty much all the high-end options. I designed and built this guitar to be a fingerstyle performance and recording guitar.

The Eclipse model is my version of the Modern OM. With a 15 1/2" wide lower bout, it's not too big, not too small, with lots of power and presence, dynamic range, and versatility. I like to fantasize about putting this guitar in the hands of players like Calum Graham, Mike Dawes, Luca Stricagnoli, and those other phenomenal modern fingerstyle artists on the Candyrat label. If you don't know who I'm talking about, get on YouTube and search "Candyrat Guitarists" RIGHT NOW. This Eclipse OM is optimized for that style of music. But it has the tonal range, the character, the presence, and the playability to be amenable to anything you want to do.

I originally intended to keep this guitar for myself, but decided instead to send it out into the world, and hopefully find a more worthy and skilled player, who can really use everything this Eclipse offers.

Details and specs below, but first I'd like to show you a few photos of this Eclipse OM-S. Thanks for looking!
*Apologies for the slight magenta cast in the photos. I may have set my camera's light source function wrong, and Apple's Photos app doesn't allow for much color correction.*

Here are some specifications and features of this guitar:

EE-S-OM, Eclipse OM-S
Serial Number 1805-111; DOB July 17, 2018

Back and Sides: Ultra Premium Cocobolo Rosewood;
Soundboard: Mastergrade, Ancient Sinker Redwood;
Neck: Premium Honduran Mahogany, with black veneer/Flamed Maple veneer lines and Copper/Abalone Dot inlay;
Bindings, Bevels, Scoop Cutaway, Fingerboard, Bridge, and Front Headstock Plate, all are highly figured Macassar Ebony. Purflings throughout are High-Flame SE Asian Pyinma with thin red veneer lines.

Arm and Rib Bevels; Scoop Cutaway; MULTISCALE Architecture, with a Scale Spread of 25”- 25.5”;
Inlaid Upper Bout Sound Port;
Omega Style Open Headstock, with Gotoh 510 Mini, Cosmo Black Tuners with Custom Madagascar Rosewood buttons (not pictured- added later);
Element Asym style 2 Rosette;
Element v. 6.5 style Bridge, with Vintage Bone Pins and polished Bone, Intonated Saddle;
Deluxe Multi-Segmented Center Back Strip, and “Champaign Flute” End Graft Inlay, In Pyinma, Macassar, and red veneer lines, with copper and shell dots; “Dragon-Wing” 12th Fret Inlay;
Edwinson Signature Paua Abalone with Copper Ring Fret Position Inlay.

Nut width: 1 13/16"; String spread at saddle 2 1/4"; FB radius 16";
Thirteen frets-to-body, Twenty frets total; Evo Gold frets

This guitar, with Multiscale Architecture, and Cocobolo/Sinker Redwood tonewoods, absolutely excels for Open Tuning Fingerstyle playing, but is also amazing in Standard Tuning, with a wide dynamic range. As a point of reference, my guitars are known for having a "modern" sound, similar in many ways to the Somogyi school, Michael Greenfield, Paul Reed Smith Custom shop, Jordan McConnell, and others who specialize in the Modern Fingerstyle guitar.

I will try to post some sound clips of this Eclipse OM, if I can get a friend or two who plays much better than I do to help me record some tracks. Fortunately, we know some awesome players who LOVE to come over and check out our newest work.
This Eclipse OM was finished last summer, and it has had some time to mature tonally. It has a grand, expansive, colorful sound; and it will come into full bloom the more it's played and enjoyed.

There are two case options for this guitar. One, a custom-fitted Hoffee carbon fiber flight case, White exterior, black interior, Thinsulate inner lining, deluxe draw latches, and padded shoulder strap; Or, if this guitar will be more of a stay-at-home or light duty traveler, you may opt for a Guardian brand, CG-044-OS vintage style case, which I have modified with custom padding inside, for a snug, safe fit. The Guardian case has a black Tolex cover, brass hardware, leather handle, and green crushed velvet interior. I'll add photos of both cases later.

With all it's high-end features and superb woods, this Eclipse OM-S guitar lists out to $11,470 USD, with the custom Hoffee case, or $10,270 USD with the modified Guardian case.

Update, May 29: Now asking $9000 for this Eclipse OM-S, with customized Guardian case included.

These are list prices, and there is room for discounts. I am very amenable to considering reasonable offers. If this guitar calls out to you, make an offer! Nothing ventured, nothing gained. And I am more interested in finding this guitar a good home than keeping it in limbo! I am flexible with pricing, and as long as we both feel it's a fair deal, all good!

Update, May 29: Now asking $9000 USD for this guitar, with the customized Guardian case.

Of course, I always insist that a potential buyer should have a comprehensive try-out on any guitar I am offering. If you are amenable to paying shipping charges, I will ship this guitar to you for up to a week long trial. I pride myself on providing a lot of guitar for the money, relative to other guitars in their class, but this is still a substantial investment, and I would never want you to feel like you're at risk.

If you have questions, or thoughts you'd like to share, you can send me a PM through the AGF, or email me at [email protected]

Thanks for looking, and Best of Good Fortune to You!

Steve, theEdwinson

This was one that I did not get a chance to play at the show, too busy running around all weekend, but visually it was a stunner and I have no doubt that the sound will measure up to any scrutiny as well. All 3 guitars that Steve has posted here deserve a home! You could NOT ask for a nice fella to deal with either.

I played it, it was as stellar in sound and feel as in looks. I have a guitar with a Sinker Redwood top that Steve built, as he says, he gives a lot of guitar for the money. This guitar was a joy to play and hear.

Mprater, I just found a YouTube post on the Jupiter guitar.
If you don't mind, I'll post the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgdC5Hpl7P8

If you like the Jupiter, you'll love the Cocobolo/Sinker Eclipse. My guitars have been evolving, and the newer ones have the sound and response I've been working towards for twenty years now...
Just saw I have a PM, I assume that's you. You can also email me at [email protected]. Thanks!

I was the original owner of the Jupiter guitar. It was the first of the 3 Edwinson’s I owned, and I’m bewildered as to how or why I ever let it get away. Enjoy!

Thank you, chistrummer. I forgot to mention, I switched out the Tuner buttons on the Gotoh 510 minis to a set of custom Madagascar Rosewood buttons. They're a nice match to the Cocobolo elements.
