Default NGD - First Luthier Built Guitar

I’ve’ been mulling over getting an OM for some time now but finding one with a smaller 1 11/16 nut was proving to be a challenge. I was moments away from making a (Factory) custom order when a Forum member pointed me towards another member selling a Luthier built guitar at a really great price. About 12 days later I was opening the case of an MJ Franks OMS guitar (Specs below)

Wow, it is everything I wanted in a OM guitar. The sound is reminiscent of some of the Martin OM 42s I have played, but with a smaller nut. This makes sense since it was made in the om 42 fashion with the additon of the forward shifted bracing. It’s unbelievably responsive and warm, while still having abundant clarity and just the right amount of snap. An added bonus is the Anthem SL pickup that was installed when the guitar was built. For me this is the first time trying this pick-up and it sounds amazing.

Congrats on your acquisition! I don't see too many posts for people looking for narrower neck widths, so it sounds like it was win/win for you and the Seller.

Enjoy!

Mike Frank's are more than fairly priced for the quality. And he is a great guy to work with.

Prior to this guitar I picked up a different OM that had the 1 3/4 nut. I wanted to give the 1 3/4 nut size one more shot. It was a sweet sounding Furch OM CR but I new immediately that the neck was 2 wide for me. So back it went.

When the opportunity for the MJ Franks guitar came up, I did my research, listened to loads of vids, and came to a quick decision. It was a good move, and the seller was great to work with, sending loads of pictures and a sound sample, I knew from the pics that the guitar needed some work ( new saddle, and a bit of leveling and polish on the frets) but the price was right and the guitar now plays like the amazing guitar it is.
