Default D string snapped

I have a set of Saverez Alliance high tension strings on my old Alhambra. They sound excellent, I think the best I've heard on this model. Anyway, the D string snapped right at the saddle. They haven't been on all that long comparatively to usual (maybe 4 months, though not totally sure). I did notice there is a slight divet/groove on the leading edge of the saddle. Should edge of the saddle be smooth and did the winding on the string dig this groove in over time? Would that be the problem?

As a note, I don't play the guitar a whole lot, as I'm mainly a steel string player and I use both fingers and a pick at times when I do play it.

I woke up to a broken D string this morning, too. Yeah, make sure where the string leaves the saddle is smooth, not sharp. The D is the one that most often
breaks, in my experience, followed by the high e.

Ok, then a little fine sandpaper should do it. Bummer when that happens. Thanks!
