Default 2014 Collings OM3 Mh G SS Varnish - Off the Market

Happy Saturday everyone. Up for sale is my highly customized Collings OM3 from 2014. This one has just about every option in the book. German spruce top with Adirondack braces, short 24.9" scale length, 1 3/4" nut with 2 1/4" bridge spacing, varnish finish and Mahogany for the back and sides instead of the usual Indian rosewood. And of course it's dressed in Collings' top of the line style-3 trim, which includes full ivoroid bindings on the body, neck and headstock, abalone rosette, no fingerboard inlays, gold Waverly tuners and special marquetry backstrip. The varnish finish adds a gorgeous golden glow that really sets everything off.

With all that being said, this one is all about the tone. This is certainly different than any Collings that I've ever played or owned. The varnish finish and short scale make this guitar exceptionally warm and mellow. The German spruce and mahogany create the perfect blend of strong fundamentals and ringing harmonics. Playability, fit and finish are all as you would expect from Collings.

This guitar has been played quite a bit and is wide open. However, in terms of condition, this guitar has some visible wear. There are a number of little fingernail marks on the treble side of the upper bout, scratches on and slightly below the pick guard as well as some scratches on the side that sits on your lap. There are also a couple of little marks here and there that are difficult to photograph. This is part of the tradeoff that comes with the varnish finish. It's the ideal finish for creating a resonant guitar, but it's not as protective as a nitro or poly finish and shows wear more easily. There's also some fret wear, mostly on the first 3 frets.

Current list value for this guitar in 2020 is $8,325. Considering the wear mentioned above, I'm pricing it at $XXXX shipped within CONUS. As always, I'm happy to discuss further and provide more photos for those that are interested.

This is a smokin' deal IMO, especially with the Varnish finish.

GLWS!

Thanks, Brendan! Of course, I'm inclined to agree. But seriously, if you don't mind some cosmetic blemishing this is a straight up steal.

Really appreciate the endorsement, Dave. There's no doubt that guitars like this don't come around too often...

Thanks, Rudy! Too bad this one doesn't have a slightly wider spacing at the nut and saddle. I think it'd be right up your alley!

You got that right Max! I'm strictly 1-13/16" @ the nut from here on in. BUT... this is an incredibly great deal you're offering here. ESPECIALLY with the varnish finish.

Shouldn't last long.....

The varnish truly makes a huge difference. Really needs to be experienced first hand. I've been fielding quite a few messages on this one but no takers, yet..
