Haven't heard it myself. Nice 12 inch subwoofer, needs an external mixer.

How about the EV 30?
I'm guessing the pricing you are quoting is US Dollars. That particular unit is only available from one supplier here in Australia @ $1,829 AUD. Still more expensive than the Maui28.
Surprisingly, the EV50 is only $70 AUD dearer.

Honestly, trying to compare these units against each other is extremely hard. The specifications provided by each company differs, and you have to go over everything with a fine tooth comb. Very frustrating.
Online video comparisons are even less informative.

"doof doof" music? Here's where I show how uninformed I really am: What is "doof doof" music?

Anything with a stupidly loud bass line. Techno etc.

Update, I've had my confidence shaken with the Maui's.
Just went to the local brewery and listened to my mate who uses a Maui 11.
First set was great, however 4 or 5 songs into his 2nd set of the night, and the system just dies.
No power.
I went and gave him a hand looking it over, and his mixing desk and lighting system were all still functioning that were sharing the same power board, but the Maui 11 was completely dead.
We found the fuse and checked it out, perfect condition, but there is also a second/spare fuse supplied with the unit. Still nothing.
That was his night done unfortunately.

Anyone heard of any similar issues?

Luckily my friend was leasing the unit, so he'll be able to send it back with minimal issues. Hopefully he'll have an answer shortly on what the issue may be.
There was no heat build up in the sub section that we could detect, nor electrical smells.
Intriguing.

Wow. Hate to hear that. I’ve have mine for a couple of years and never an issue. I average using them at least two 3-hour gigs every week.

Am I the only one who thinks these linear systems never have the "punch" or full sound that traditional powered speakers have? I think a system with (2)
10"s or 12"s will always sound better to me.

For a full band I could see that point. But for me, with just acoustic guitar and vocals the LD sounds like it was made for what I am doing. The three 6 1/2” sub drivers sound very tight and punchy for acoustic. It’s a sound I really enjoy. Of course “great sound” is so subjective. It’s not right or wrong or better or worse. Just different. My array has a very cool airy 3 dimensional thing I like but it probably doesn’t deliver as much big powerful punch as two 10s or 12s. I still have my Mackie SRM450 system with a powered sub. Have not used that system in a long time but for certain applications it would outperform the LD.

Thanks for that Strat, I'll certainly keep everyone in the loop.

For what I'm going to be using it for, I think it will be perfect. I'm not a headline act, I don't have a dedicated following that guarantees a crowd. The place's I perform at don't want ear bleeding sound. They want a relaxed atmosphere with light background music.
If the media releases are accurate, you are not blasting those nearest to you and those in the back of the room can hear you nicely still as well
My Boss Acoustic Singer Pro does the job at a push, hence why I'm looking at something that will do it more easily.

What do you mean? It doesn't have enough power?
