We all wore masks to Laurelyn's celebration. Not a Masquerade, though. No hugs . Good time none the less.

Here is the first coat of finish on the Madrone:

Looks great, Bruce.

Around our parts, Madrone is typically only used for firewood--nice to see you use it for a beautiful guitar!

That madrone strikes me as a more colorful and interesting variation of the beautiful Swiss pear 0 that you built a couple years ago - if it sounds as good, it will be amazing!

But none of that really matters - what DOES matter is that now that he’s got the madrone into varnish, it’s time to start putting together the most beautiful and wonderful guitar Bruce has built - well, IMHO, at least -

The varnish has cured, so now the body and neck get their final rub-out and buff, then they get put together to become a single, beautiful assembly -

Tad, I see strings on Wednesday and a visit by the weekend (if you can keep yourself away!)

Tad, that looks stellar! I know you’re stoked about what’s to come! That back....yowza!

Can we talk about that rosette on the flamenco though? I can’t get over that one...it’s really quite cool!

Another big step closer - birds on the ‘board, and bridge in clamps - just saddle, nut, tuners, strings - hopefully it gets its voice tomorrow!

Since we were in the area, my wife and I brought some sandwiches and sat in the yard with Bruce and his wife, to maintain our social distancing - but we did put on our masks long enough to go see where things were at. Bruces beautiful birds, and a wonderful ebony bridge - although Bruce is concerned about the extra 6-8 grams the ebony added, rather than using some nice amazon, or brazilian. We’ll see -

The perfectly quartersawn ebony used for the fretboard is amazing - love the natural color, we’ll see how it looks in a few years of playing -

I thought our afternoon visit had delayed progress considerably, but Bruce got the tuners on, and apparently has the nut and saddle operationally in place, with final set up and fine tuning to start tomorrow!

I expect Tad will come by to pick up his guitar late Friday or sometime on Saturday. He will not be disappointed, that is for sure. He and I could spend a lot of time telling you about how it feels and sounds to play this guitar, but it is useless, you'd have to play it yourself to understand.

Here's what what it looks like a cleaning away from delivery:
