This fellow is wonderfully unique to the point that some guitarists may find him too quirky to enjoy. I love it. He sounds just like a calliope in the center of a merry-go-round. His sound dynamics and timing are all over the place and I found myself unable to stop listening to him play. Sort of like not being able to turn away from an impending train wreck. That’s really fun playing. Thanks for sharing this video!

I thought the same as I watched the video. Not my style or musical interest but it was worth watching through to the end.

Very nicely done. He played it just the way he wanted to and with the sound that he wanted (very low action setup on those buzzing strings).

I didn't groove on it. But it's funny how some things end-up leading you to other things, because I'm finding myself quite smitten with his costar in that video... and am enjoying some of the stuff she's doing in other videos. What a quirky, little thing with an old soul.

Default You Tube responses

I had to laugh at the 2nd You Tube response.

I don't know her except from a few vids, but I've tried to listen to, and develop some sort of appreciation for what she does, but I'm just not getting there.

I am familiar with the guy in the vid, Frank Fairfield...he may have been the first artist of this type music that I encountered, but again, I just can't make the connection...

I do know that a few years ago, he became tired and angry at what he saw as constant criticism of his playing and singing, and took to social media to say that he was quitting the business...he apparently recanted at some point.

Want to thank the OP for starting this. I had never heard of the guy before but have become a big fan. I love that old timey stuff, even if folks think its rough around the edges, it's the kind of "folk" music I like. The lady playing with him does a nice job of walking the bass lines between chord changes. I'll have to watch more closely and try to mimic.
