Anyone remember Captain Cody? I watched the reruns as a kid.

I didn't mean to imply that they were the first doctors (I know my Who history, very well thank you), just that I much prefer original series of the show ('63 to' 89) to the new series, and in particular the Pertwee and Baker eras.

There was some kind of Superman blitz on one of the
non-network broadcast (OTA) channels here the other day.
I watched some of one of them, Claude Akins was the bad
guy and Perry White was a chemist ? ? ? ... then the one
with the little guys with the latex heads came on and I
changed the channel...

Back when Superman was a 1/2 hour show there was a 2-episode feature called 'Superman and the Mole Men' where these little dudes with a death ray device came out of a deep hole drilled in the earth.
One of my earliest TV memories - scared the heck out of me!

Here's the trailer.

The new Lost in Space is good.

Dark Matter is pretty violent but good, as is Travelers (both ways).

The Mandalorian is very good, with season two just coming at the end of the month.

Star Trek Discovery is an acquired taste especially the main character, Commander Burnham (season three coming this month). Season 2 much better (Spock arrives as does Cap'n Pike) than season one.

Doctor Who is classic, and the recent Tennant and Smith years are very very good. Of course, Tom Baker is "My" Doctor!

As far as more recent fare goes, I liked Netflix's Lost in Space and Dark.

Can’t believe I forgot the Mandalorian. Maybe it’s because it’s too new, but so far the first season is good.

Dr Who and 1960s Star Trek- I remember as an eight year old watching the first Dr Who episode on the 23rd November 1963. It started a bit late due to the coverage of JFK's assassination the previous day and, if I recall correctly, was repeated the following Saturday (no "catch-up" in them days!).

My wife and I have been watching some of our "one-hit-wonder" DVD sets recently and I haven't seen any of these mentioned. All four of these were prime-time "limited series" (aka cancelled after the first season, or in at least one case before the first season was even finished) that were actually pretty fun SF for TV. Anyone remember these?

Surface (2006, 15 episodes)

Threshold (2005, 13 episodes, last four un-aired)

Invasion (2005/06, 22 episodes)

The Dresden Files (ok, maybe not strictly SF; 2007, 12 episodes).

I'm usually not a fan of Scifi, but I did enjoy "Stranger Things"....

I couldn't stop watching Season 1 - it was awesome. Immediately reminded me of a cross between the X-Files and something else. Oddly, I've only watched half of season 2. I'll probably pick it up again in the next couple of weeks though.

Before it turned into a silly sitcom drama, I was fascinated with the premise of Last Man on Earth. The first 2-3 episodes led me to imagine what it would be like to roam the continent alone on a whim, see places, collect whatever interested me, and keep whatever I needed to create... a life. The parking lot scene with a pickup full of bowling balls and a pyramid of aquariums as pins was a hoot. And clever for how it pointed out that even bizarrely creative, ridiculous, no-limits stunts/self-entertainment will ring hollow in a desolate world.

Hey Cat, Timeless was a great show. I was sad when it was cancelled, only to have it come back again just to get cancelled. I think that Abigail Spencer is amazing.
