Although I voted D 18, I'm a biased flatpicker. I sold a very fine M 36 to buy my D 35. I owned it for about 25 years if that tells you anything. It just didn't have the power my changed taste desired.
The 000 18 would probably suit you fine, but I've heard D 18s finger picked and they sound great.

Funny I did this but now am falling in love with 00 models, especially the 12 fretters or deep body. I think my list was far too short...

For what you described it would be difficult to beat a 000-18, but there's just something awesome about my 000-17 so that's my vote. It can handle everything really well, is very light and has a nice, dry, vintage tone.

Sitting on the couch finger picking - I'd choose the 000-18. Shorter scale, smaller than the D18 and still a big sound. The size was my determining factor. I'd love to have a D18 also. But the 000-18 first

It’s worth noting people are voting for the 18s because those are far more common. The 000-28vs is the least likely to be on a guitar center wall. But it’s the best sounding guitar of the bunch. Also, it’s long scale, even though it’s called a 000, just heads up. Gives more power, snap, and volume. These are wonderful guitars.

After owning some and playing most of the brands you've mentioned, I lost interest in once again owning a Martin.
