I asked a similar question about Portland a few weeks ago. Some good recommendations in that post. I stopped by Portland Music Co (the Broadway location). Very nice. Saw a CEO-7 I almost went away with. And Old Town Music is worth a stop as well. I didn't get a chance to go to others. I'm hoping to stop by Thunder Road Guitars on a trip to Portland later this week.

If you're going to be across the river in Vancouver WA, and especially if you have any interest in Breedlove guitars, stop by Music World and talk with Matt. They are a Breedlove "Distinctive Dealer". Last time I was there they had a bunch of Breedlove's (and other guitars) across a wide price range.

Further down the pike, I've heard good things about BullFrog Music in Corvallis, but haven't made it there yet.

Take a side trip to Sisters for Preston Thompson and Bend for Butch Boswell.
Two of the best makers for traditional Martin style guitars.

Contact Eric Skye in Portland for a lesson.
