Default Jim Dunlop -- A passing noted

Most of us have used Dunlop picks, capos or strings over the years, so it's only proper to note Jim Dunlop's passing on February 6. His obituary appeared in today's San Francisco Chronicle.

Though Jim Dunlop was born and grew up in Scotland, he came to the SF Bay Area in the 60s. The Dunlop manufacturing plant is still located across the Bay from SF, in Benicia. He was a great innovator, and the guitar world owes much to his creativity and vision.

I doubt a single Guitar player has not heard of Jim Dunlop. Or even used one of his products. He will be sorely missed.

The man's contributions to the musical world are beyond the scope of most. His products have been used by darn near everyone at some point. Cheers to the man, and may his company still make quality products.

You may want to check out the ongoing thread on this same topic under Open Mic. Agreed - great innovator and he will be missed. Thanks for a note about the obituary. I will check it out.

Best,
Jayne
