I preferred the 1st one. It was much bigger sounding.
The biggest issue I heard was a bit of flub in the mids...around 750-800Hz. But that's pretty typical for an acoustic guitar. I scooped bit out (I think I landed at 772Hz) and a little high pass cleaned up the mush from the room. Very nice over-all and I think you're on the right track. Keep at it.

Thanks a lot for the reply and suggestions. 1st recording .. I used 2 mics in XY (2 LDC mics). 2nd recording was 1 SDC mic. I look forward to trying more arrangements. |

It sounds good to me but maybe just a bit too bright. What you have is a good recording to do post-recording editing with as its better to have a little bit more of everything in a recording to work with than too little of something.

The only problem I hear with the first one is room reflections coming back into the recording. Get some gobos, or moving blankets and set them up strategically to help absorb room reflection. It sounds pretty good other than that. It needs some work done in post though. If you took care of the room, then expirement with mic placement (tiny amounts of movement can make a difference) you should be able to produce great recordings with what you have.
