Default Gibson L-1 which strings?

I have a L-1 on the way and was wondering what strings to use? Also what gauge is usually used on these old Gibsons? Thanks

Start with 12's and work up to 13's if the instrument is in top shape - although I like them on later/larger archtops I wouldn't go to 14's on an old L-1...

thanks for the advice. Do you have a preference for what brand. I have 2 sets now; Martin Blue Grass and a setoff Dean Markley Jazz. Not sure if those would sound good on this guitar.

I'm about to try a set of Martin bluegrass. You just never know what a particular guitar is going to want.

Sorry I didn't think of bluegrass gauge (12-56) before, since my wife uses them (D'A EJ19) on her small-body guitars - considering they're basically a pre-1972 light-gauge set they could be just the ticket...

I have a 1918 archtop that sounds very good with light gauge Martin Monel strings.
