This is a really special Bourgeois Orchestra Model. This Aged Tone OM came out of Dana Bourgeois' shop in 2013. It has an Aged Tone Adirondack top, Madagascar Rosewood back and sides, Aged Tone braces, hide glue construction, and a varnish finish. When Dana was offering the varnish finish, it was a $2,000 option. So this guitar would have sold for north of $8,000 when it was new. Once the Aged Tone finish came along, the varnish was phased out, so there aren't many guitars with this combination of features. You can see a copy of the spec sheet in the pictures.

This is a beautiful example of a rosewood OM. I've heard some newer Brazilian Rosewood guitars, and I actually like the way Madagascar Rosewood sounds better. The grain on the back of this guitar is insane. This guitar is focused, punchy, and articulate, but with warmth and depth that you wouldn't necessarily expect from something this size. All the Aged Tone features (top, braces, hide glue) and varnish finish work together to make this guitar sound old and wise. The guitar also has a K&K Pure Mini pickup professionally installed, which sounds great and natural if you need to plug in.

If you want to hear the guitar, CLICK HERE for a SoundCloud clip. I recorded the guitar at home with a spaced pair of Soyuz SU-013 FET small diaphragm mics. One was in front of the neck/body joint (panned left) and one was over my shoulder (panned right). The mics went into two channels of a Hendyamps Rembrandt preamp, which is the most natural preamp I've heard. The preamp went into a Lynx Aurora N and then into Logic Pro X. Without any EQ, reverb, compression, etc., you're getting a natural picture of what the guitar sounds like. Listen to the sustain and fullness. It's a sweet sound.

There's nothing wrong with this guitar at all. I'm selling because last year I received a Bourgeois JOMCT as a birthday gift, and it feels like something needs to go. And larger guitars seem to fit my playing style better than OMs. So hopefully my loss is your gain. If you love the OM body style and are looking for something new that sounds old (in a great way), it's hard to imagine doing much better than this.

The first pictures are older studio shots of the guitar. The later pictures are recent and show (I think) that the guitar still looks amazing. There is a small nick on the back corner of the headstock, above the g-string tuner. So it is on the back of the headstock. That is the only visible imperfection worth noting, but it's not visible from the front. I hope this guitar can find a happy new home!
