What makes it a 355, as opposed to a 335? Is it the woods used? Because visually by shape i don't see a tell. It is a very beautiful guitar.

WOW! Just an amazing 355. I looked at the specs (although they may have changed since then) and it listed Custombucker Alinco 3. Are those the pickups in yours? Or the MHS?

Default Share your ES335

Wish I had a 335!! I did have a Yamaha SA2100 which is their version and a very nice instrument. Phil Keaggy plays one... I ended up selling it to a good friend who had his stolen. He’s a much better player than I am and it is getting the attention now that it deserved!

Mine has the MHS II pickups in it. I had the Custombuckers in an R9 Les Paul and they are wonderful. Can't lose with either option.

Yeah, it's the aesthetics. Unlike the 345, it doesn't have the Vari-tone circuit and all that jazz.

No dipping a toe in to test the water for you, lawler! Lets dive into the deep, deep end with some seriously good electric gear. Bahaha.

I thought it might be interesting to electric players and particularly ES-335 owners to hear the sound coming from my ES-335 on the Beatles' song "Ticket to Ride" HERE in the Show & Tell section.

My Gibson ES-335 is a late 70s model with a pole splitting switch, which I think is somewhat unusual for most ES-335 models. For "Ticket to Ride" I used the pole splitting switch to take out one of the humbucker coils of the bridge pickup to thin up the sound, and then used a fair amount of compression along with an AC30 amp model in Guitar Rig to approximate the sound the Beatles got with a pair of Gretsch Country Gentlemen guitars. It's not exact, of course, but it's not too terribly far off, either.

I think it speaks to the wide range of utility of the ES-335.

oh man did i enjoy that! Everything just so good, vocal, BGV's and of course the guitar playing! Thanks for sharing...is your 335 a wine color or black? And i agree, it totally captured the original 'vibe' or tone of the original tracks to my ear.

Thanks for sharing your music!

Thanks for checking this out, Dale! I'm glad you thought my guitar sound did a decent job of capturing that 1965 Beatles' sound.

My ES-335 color is called "wine red." It's a burgundy color, very pretty with binding on front and back. I really like sunbursts but this is the guitar the store near Olympia had and it felt and sounded so good to me that I bought what they had. And it's a good looking guitar.
