I have both a J-45 Standard (2008) and a D50 Bluegrass (2012, Adi top). I love them both for different reasons and they sound very different. If I had to choose one it would be the D50. Despite the longer scale, it plays just as easily as the 45 and has a bigger bolder tone. I would also take it over most D-28's.

Alright, I'm sold on the Guild. Honestly did not expect Guild to get so much love.

Thanks everyone for the input. It was really helpful.

Those new faded/satin J45s and 50's sound pretty darn good, generally speaking.

Not to be argumentative, but I think it's a little heavy on the black... THIS is a killer burst.

Horses for courses, DC! I like that darkness around the edge! And that's a mighty fine Guild you got yourself, bud.

By the way, your earlier post where you reference your F-50 really has me wanting to seek one out. I prefer mini-jumbos, but those "big gun" F-50s sure look nice in google images.

Y'all both have some mighty fine looking guitars. But I submit this is Guild's best looking burst:

Everyone's got a J. Get the Guild.
It’s time to ask why everyone’s got a J. Might be a reason.

I’ll add that the Faded J-45 has the “Round” 50s Original neck, not the “Slim Taper” of the Standard model.

In defense of my 45’s burst, here’s a more accurate pic.

Absolutely. I've got a super nice F50R, but two of my 12ers have the braceless arched maple back like the 6-string F50, and I'm starting to think I prefer that setup over the solid rosewood.....
