I guess this thread demonstrates that a definition of "one hit wonder" is often dependent on where in the world you live.

IMO, the ultimate one hit wonder was by the “One-ders” (get it?), and was specifically written for the film, “That Thing You Do”. The plot was centered around a fictional band that achieves rapid fame with their first song and soon after that, their lives and their group falls apart.

At some lost time in the '60s I was in an acoustic trio p[laying the folk clubs of west London.

Jon Evans (our maestro) worked out an arrangement of thi with our singer playing the trumpet solo on a flute (!).

In British folk clubs ! went down a storm

I understand your sentiment and agree with it in some (many) instances. No disrespect was intended to Ashcroft and Co., but that's the song that defines the band for a lot of folks in the US based on what made the Billboard charts, got the most radio/commercial play, etc.

Personally, The Drugs Don't Work is my favorite song by the band. I believe it was a hit on the UK charts but didn't get much play in the US. Fantastic song.
