I work this evening.

My birthday was this past Thursday, so we're doing the birthday dinner thing tomorrow night...

Took Friday off and celebrated my son's 23rd bday fly fishing in Blue Ridge, Georgia.

Tomorrow I'll be bailing hay in 95 degree heat.
I can barely contain my excitement.

So far today I have prepped the motorcycle for sale (the buyer should be calling any moment) and put a new inner tube in the bicycle tire for the bike that I won't be able to ride yet for a few more weeks. We're headed for 100° this afternoon so the reminder of the day will be spent indoors playing guitar, watching some TV recorded this past week, etc. It kinda sucks being laid up with my right foot in a boot for the rest of the summer.... Kids, if you are listening, DON'T rupture your Achilles tendon.

I'm working this afternoon. I work most every afternoon except Mondays. Weekends don't mean anything to me. If I want to take a few days off I just do. It is too hot for anything outside. Just taking a break right now, going to get a rum and Coke, then back for another hour or so, then I'll call it quits. My wife and I plan to pull the cork on a bottle of wine and watch a movie tonight.

Helping mom in law pack up for a move. For me a new portable AC for my man cave and now I have to figure out how to install it neatly. I would’ve installed a window AC but it’s against my HOA rules.

Great song from a great album, thanks for that!

Saturday morning is pretty standard: a nice, cooked breakfast at home and an hour long call with my mom back east (we usually text throughout the week). Afterwards, I changed a set of guitar strings (on average, I change one guitar per week). I was in negotiations to buy an almost new guitar via CL (actually working out a trade), but another person was ahead of me and purchased it. After dinner, we walked in the neighborhood and even took a short drive to look for the comet with my kids (no luck, sigh).

Tomorrow, I have to write my annual self-review. This takes me a few hours, so I'm hoping to wrap it up early enough to get in the pool and cool off in the afternoon.

In other words, nothing too exciting. But I get some guitar playing time in between all of it too. And I may be trying to remove a couple of pickguards, so I can order a couple of custom guards from Taylor Mullins at Holter Pickguards.

Yesterday, we went to Al Capone’s (purported) Canadian hideout!

Yeap, we did. This tiny hamlet called Quadeville claims to have had Al Capone as a “temporary” resident way back when the Chicago heat (literal and figurative?) was too much for the mobster. Didn’t see any evidence but saw a lot of nothing and some pretty scenery. We got there by first visiting an abandoned DEW-line radar station (which as a former radar technician was of much interest to me). Went on to chow down on a terrific burger in Bancroft and took another scenic route home.
Nice day overall and a welcome change after months of going nowhere.

Saturday - gave a Zoom meeting guitar lesson with a great guy from Georgia, which was cut short (only 45 minutes) by a general powercut. Second time in a week ! .. which meant I didn't get to watch last weeks F1 race! Grrr!

So suddenly realising how little one can do with NO power ! i put my gardening clothes on and went to the allotments to find that my Calabrese cage had been raided - seemingly by a fox. Well that took an hour to build a new fortress around he remaining plants ...foxes like brassicas? hmm.

Did some other work on the water tanks and watered the crops. Came home and designed some Covid-19 safe rules for up coming musical "garden party" next month.

Sunday - I'm cooking tonight - we are going to try some beef! Unusual meat for us nowadays - with all home grown veggies.

2.00 F1 Hungary race (if the power stays on!)

5.00 another Zoom guitar session.

7.00 cook, eat, drink, talk to wife.

9.00 - midnight - sofa time.

It's all go being old and retired.

My plan is simple. I plan to stick my head firmly in the sand all weekend.
I will do anything but talk, listen or watch stuff about Covid 19, the stock market, or social issues.
YMMV. Have a great weekend all!

We'll probably go to Lowe's. We just came back from vacation in the Finger Lakes.
