Statements to the effect that capos are "cheating" or are for lesser players come from players who are inexperienced themselves. If one truly understood how capos can be used creatively, or to transpose voicings, etc., one wouldn’t even ask the question .

There's simply no discussion of this topic among pro players.

If the capo exists it is because it is made to use it. Thousands of famous artists have used a capo in their career as a musician. We don't all have a Rob Halford voice, and transposing to another key doesn't always give a nice result, and sometimes the song looks better in a capo than played open, even for instumental songs.

Sometimes I want to play a G-run, but the song's not in G!

I'd sure would like to see somebody play out of a C chord in the key of D without a capo. At flat pickers speed. Any takers?

That story certainly puts a new twist on it!

I thought there were some guitar elves types out there that came up with a capo idea, made some and hoped to...err... flog them!

I have a box full of them....some kind of shame at being fleeced ...again.. stops me throwing them out. And some are real 'contraptions', like my 'dobro capo'....

So far, the only one that I own that lets me bend the strings without keeping it there is a Shubb 'Capo Noir' (black).

At first I thought this was a joke. A report on the global capo market for $3660 per copy? I'm used to these reports for other product types, but mostly products with much higher selling prices. My assumption is that the author plans on selling no more than 10-12 copies. Of course, that would bring in more income than my last book, and likely required less research, so it could work out well.
