Aluminum Bronze sound great on this guitar.

Upon further inspection I discovered some things:

1. A wad of sticky tack inside the body where the pickup enters the bridge. Got rid of that. Learned about that possibility from another thread on AGF, got out my mirror, and voila, there it was.

2. No shims, the saddle is properly fitted and fully compensated for intonation. It sits snug but not tight in the slot.

3. The nut and saddle are real bone. This year's ebony 'bird pro has synthetic bone, and I couldn't find another Epi 'bird at all with real bone listed in the specs.

Pardon me while I go strum Hot Burrito #1.

After a couple of weeks I like this guitar even more. As I stated in the opening post, it was fresh out of the box when I bought it. And as should be expected from a lot of imported acoustics, it was a little stiff and slightly boxy/strident in its tone. After playing and playing, its sound is beginning to mellow into something more like that rich, bassy Gibson-y thing.

I also brought the saddle down .02 to get the action right where I like it.
