Always. In the summer - when it's too hot for long sleeves - I wear a forearm 'sleeve' that is basically a black sock that I cut the end off. Note that I do this because I hate the feeling of gloss tops on my forearm and not to protect the guitar's surface finish. In my experience with regular gigging, long sleeves (or protective sleeves) do not protect the guitar's finish. Glossy tops get cloudy, satin tops get shiny, regardless of protection.

Just with one guitar.....I have a black lacquer Martin that I wear long sleeves on when I play. Years ago some bug spray I had on my arms hazed the finish, so I became extra careful with that one. Interestingly, over the years, the long sleeves rubbing across the upper top have gradually re-buffed that area into close to its original gloss...go figure

I put something between my forearm and the guitar for my two nitro finish instruments. If I"m not wearing long sleeves I'll use a cloth of some sort, just to cut down on clean up after I'm done playing. We're playing one of our last outdoor gigs of the season this Saturday and the low is predicted to be around 50 by the time we're done. You betcha I'll be in several layers of long sleeves!

Do You Wear Long Sleeves When Practicing?

Just about everything I wear has long sleeves because I live in a very cool climate. However, when I play the guitar, I almost always push my sleeves up to expose my forearms. I really don't like my arms covered up when I am playing.

No, I don't worry about it. I don't dress in any particular special way to play the guitar.

Oh absolutely, always long sleeves when practicing.

No pants, of course, but definitely long sleeves.

I suppose I'm the heretic in the house.
I bought my 1960 Gibson LG3 for $300 (2 weeks pay) and never thought of her as an investment, but as an instrument and a companion. She has been with me since 1961 and we have both been marked by life. We both have bumps, scrapes and scars.
We live in Arizona and my sweat has eaten through the finish where my arm rests on her. The mahogany under that sweat has darkened. None of those blemishes make me appreciate that guitar any less.

No - the opposite - I roll my sleeves up off my lower arm or wear short sleeves.

I do sweat a lot, my first dreadnought got some marks becuase of that.
However, it's too hot to wear long sleeve in summer. I use this UV Protection Cool Sleeve recently with no problem.

I wear long sleeves during the cold months. If my guitars eventually develop a mark or two from my right arm, I'm not going to lose any sleep.

Only when it’s cold enough to need them, but honestly even then I tend to roll my sleeves up. I do wipe down my strings at the end of a day of playing. And when I change strings, I generally clean off the guitar body…

It’s either long sleeves or a cotton sock with the toe cut off as an arm sleeve.
Seems like an easy thing to do and it keeps my guitars looking their best, I like that.

Only in the winter and I'll roll up the sleeve on my picking arm.

I never wear long sleeves when playing, never have. All my guitars are getting along just fine.

I like long sleeves rolled up to just below or even just above the elbow. I get the concerns about affecting the finish etc but for me confort comes first when playing.
