The Pro Series 7 models all have 1 3/4 nuts as well as some of the TT Series like the 340sTT...these new models are NEX thin line designed more for the electric player with the exception of the new slope.

That's an interesting looking 12 fret slope dread from Takamine. Love to give it a test drive.

That pickguard needs to go, but besides that, I'd love to give that one a spin

I have an EF 340stt, 1 3/4", spruce over mahogany, plays awesome. Think D-18 at 1/2 the price.

Is that the banjo killer? Hard to understand why not more people who want top notch dread are not buying this.

+1...I'm a Tak guy as most folks know and also like Martins. I had already bought a D18 before the Tak 340TT came out or else I would have gotten the Tak. The Tak is louder and projects more, plus it has a killer TLD-2 Line driver pick preamp combined with the Palathetic pickup. They are built with excellent fit n finish, dovetail joint, and such a great price! ...I'm happy with the D18, it has sentimental value and I have my Taks too, but GHS, I know that 340 must rumble your chest!

** I think the fact that these 340's and 360's are not as readily available to play in stores may contribute to why more folks don't buy them, plus some folks have headstock syndrome LOL

I bought this guitar used but in perfect shape w/original case. It has a chunky neck reminiscent of the old 70's Yamaha necks. Thick but comfortable, excellent finish on the frets and the whole guitar for that matter. I have a D-28 and 000-15 so I am familiar with the "Martin" sound. It is a bit different than my friends D-18 ( used to compare), a bit "brighter" I would say, but that could be the D' Addario on the Takamine vs. the Martin SP's as other wise the dimensions, wood type, neck type are all very close. I did not set out looking for this, just happened to be in the store where it was just put on the wall. I played a few chords and felt the neck and bought in on the spot, something I have only done once before with an Alvarez/Yairi DY-71. I really like my friends D-18, it is excellent for sure. But at just about half the new price and given the quality of construction and tone if someone were looking for a mahogany dread with these dimensions this would certainly be worth a look. Noledog did bring up a good point. These guitars are just not around as much as Martins. Even D-18's are few and far between as compared to D-28's and other models. It may be difficult to find one to audition. I just got lucky with this one. I have no idea why someone would have traded/sold it as it still had the plastic on the pick guard.

The NEX body version is available, in fact there is one here at the Sam Ash where I live. I played it a few weeks ago. It was not my preference sonically as I'm not a Koa fan. However, it was gorgeous looking and the fit and finish was impeccable! https://www.esptakamine.com/products...-legacy-series
